Sergeant Bob Durka (Phoenix PD Retired) is from New Jersey. He’s a tough, no-nonsense, say it the way it is, kind of guy. Back in 2007 we were new sergeants together in the same precinct, on the same shift. As I got to know him, I thought he would have made a perfect stereotypical New York City cab driver!
NOTE: I worked with Bob two times during my police career and then we worked together as contractors after our police careers. I count him as a good friend. I didn’t know him until we got promoted. Interesting fact: I was #36 on that year’s sergeant’s list and he was #37. The officer who trained me when I was a brand new rookie was #35 on that same promotion list! Small world. (We were all exactly in the middle of the promotion list.) Bob’s wife Marleen is also a retired Phoenix Sergeant. Bob is in several other cartoons as well.
