The Professional Standards Bureau of the Phoenix Police Department asked me to design and draw a series of safety posters that would be posted in the various police buildings. I was reluctant to take on that project until I was told I could work on the project while being paid overtime. Being able to get OT changed my mind. The safety poster project lasted about six months. There was an added benefit that I got to use state-of-the-art computer programs and equipment in the Forensic Imaging Unit, which is made up of mostly civilian employees who I would have never have gotten to know outside of doing this project. This is the rough draft of my favorite safety poster. There were 12 posters produced in this project.
NOTE: Luke Air Force Base is located just west of Phoenix. It is the primary F-16 and F-35 training base for the USAF. If you live in west Phoenix, you’ll often see and hear fighter jets. Those jets inspired this poster.
