When I was assigned to the Homeland Defense Bureau my office was at the Phoenix Fire Department headquarters which was filled with civilian employees who are not used to having armed people running around. One day I carried a rifle to my office (very discreetly and not like I drew in this cartoon). Some of my Fire co-workers noticed and came into my office to look at it. This led to an ongoing joke by my office mates that I was always going to be super tactical when I was in the office. So, I drew this for them.
NOTE: The man in the cartoon talking is Detective Jack Ballentine (Retired) who has a second career working for the Fire Department as their Security Manager. Jack is a legend on the Phoenix Police Department. For years he worked murder-for-hire, organized crime and other undercover investigations. He finished his police career being a homicide detective. His larger-than-life experiences have been featured on TV shows and he has authored two books. I am a big fan of Jack’s. A highlight of my police career was being able to call myself a friend of Jack Ballentine.
