My friend Tom Tardy has an interesting theory about ghosts. He believes that if a cemetery is NOT surrounded by some type of fence, ghosts can freely move around and potentially attack passersby. Conversely, if a cemetery has fencing, the ghosts are contained and cannot hurt people. NOTE: I’ve been friends with Tom since December 1994. I only found out about his strong feelings about ghosts after he moved to West Virginia where he is surrounded by Civil War battlefields and cemeteries. It was while touring the Antietam Battlefield that Tom first explained his theory.
