In 2022, Dan Mitchell was a senior detective who was sent back to patrol for a week for supplementary duty. I worked in uniform with Dan for a week and I saw firsthand his enthusiasm for vehicle related enforcement. Afterall, Dan had been a motorcycle officer for many years before becoming a detective. During that week Dan handled any call having to do with a vehicle…including dealing with abandoned vehicles which homeless people were living in. In order to enforcement abandoned you have to put a bright orange sticker on the vehicle to give a 24 hour warning. Then, after 24 hours, the vehicle can be towed. Dan served our community very well that week.
