During the last part of my police career, I underwent training at government facilities in New Mexico. One of the times I drove on backroad highways to my training. There aren’t many towns on the backroads between Phoenix and central New Mexico. But, I did discover there was a steakhouse out in the middle of nowhere. I stopped because a steak sounded good. But the workers told me preparing the steak dinner would take over 30 minutes. So, I decided that I would wait until I was driving home from training and I’d call ahead so that the steak would be waiting for me. That’s what I did. On the way home I picked up a steak dinner to go and enjoyed steak-on-a-stick as I drove through desolate New Mexico.
