I had the pleasure of working with Officers Danny Fernandez and Audie Caraig for two years. Audie had a shaved head and walked in a kind of robotic way. We started calling him C3PO. He was…and is still…a good sport and a good police officer. Danny ended his career by being on the Mayor’s Protection Detail, which is a distinguished position. Audie left the department for a while but then came back. He spent a long time being assigned to the recruiting team…another distinguished position.
NOTE: Danny always accused me of making him look like a gangster in my cartoons because of his tattoos. I made the tattoos as satanic as possible. I also made his ears bigger than they really were, which he was not happy about. Of course, it made it even funnier to me. Danny retired and moved to the east coast where he is now a public school teacher. Audie retired and is now a police officer in Hawaii.
