At one time Detective Mike Meelhuysen and Detective John McTernan were on the Liquor Enforcement Detail, which is still part of the Narcotics Unit. They worked undercover. In 2008 the world was in a financial recession. Our police department was also in tough financial times. There was no overtime avaiable to pay for big investigations. Mike and John, had to resort to creative funding methods in order to get the overtime pay they needed…
NOTE: John McTernan retired in 2020. He had been in poor health these last few years and just recently passed away. Sergeant Mike Meelhuysen just retired this year.
