In 2013 there was a nationwide ammunition shortage. The Obama administration was very anti-gun. When they could not legislate restrictive gun laws through the US Congress, they went after ammunition manufactures with harsh restrictions. Then the federal government then purchased millions of rounds of ammo so that it was not avaiable to the average citizen. These things led to an ammunition shortage throughout the country.
The shortages affected the Phoenix Police Department. Practice ammunition was rationed and officers were not issued new “duty ammo.”
For a while, I thought we would be using rocks and slingshots for target practice.
