Detective CJ Wren once invited me to speak a house of worship security forum as part of the quarterly meeting of the Southwest Desert States Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, which he was the president of. There were representatives from many faiths and police officers from many departments present. During my talk, I made a passing reference to the child abuse scandal in the Roman Catholic Church as one of a number of grievances that people might have against houses of worship. My presentation went well and afterwards CJ came over to me. I thought he was going to tell me “great job!” But, no. He had been stressed because I had referenced the the Catholic child abuse scandal and thought I was going to talk more about it. In essence, he was glad I hadn’t gone on in my speech to insult the Catholics in the audience. So, I had to rub it in with CJ by drawing this cartoon.
