The Southern Command building, where the W-30 squad was based, was directly under the final approach flight path for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Being an airplane enthusiast, in quieter moments, I would point out and identify the various aircraft flying close overhead…I don’t think the squad members really cared, nor were they interested.
