Throughout my 27 years on the police department, I used my cartooning abilities to advance my career as much as possible. On the Phoenix Police Department in order to either advance in rank or move laterally to specialty positions, an officer has to undergo oral boards which are a combination of group interviews and oral exams. I have actually brought copies of cartoons to oral boards. In this cartoon I drew the oral board members as not being impressed, but in reality I think cartooning advance my career. I know for sure that I was given one position because the boss said that it would be good to have a cartoonist in the unit!
